Anyway, I look forward to a long weekend in Paris with C. and Robert Hossein's new spectacle "Ben Hur". So I will be clearing my desk today and just forget about work for at least 3 whole days.

AZUMI 1

Reading: Dance, Dance, Dance by Haruki Murakami (great and weird story like only the Japanese can write this kind of magick-realistic stories)

Zaterdag mijn cadeau-cheques voor mijn verjaardag gaan verzilveren bij Dille en Kamille met de aanschaf van een Japans servies en Japanse kookboeken . Een meevaller was dat de kookboeken in promo stonden en met 25% korting aangeboden werden. Waardoor ik dus met mijn 100,00 Euro extra veel heb kunnen kopen. Nog eens bedankt lieve collega's, jullie mogen er zijn.
Zondag dus lekker gekookt en voor de rest naar films gekeken. Aangezien ik in een Japanse bui verkeer, mijn DVD's met mijn geliefde Yoshio Harada (The Hunted, Lady Snowblood 2) nog eens herbekeken en s'avonds laat de extra lange Azumi uit 2003. Ik zat bij deze laatste film nog maar eens verwonderd op te kijken van het talent van Joe Odagiri in zijn rol van psychopatische en androgyne prins Bijomaru Mogami. De moeite waard altijd. Ik kijk uit naar zijn volgende films.
Vanmorgen vroeg ging de wekker toen ik net in een ongelooflijke droom zat. Aan de ballet-barre met oude vrienden uit de balletwereld + de acteurs en actrices uit Azumi was ik net een dolle pret aan het beleven en dan is daar de wekker om te zeggen dat het tijd is voor de harde realiteit...baal, baal, baal

TENGOKU

Een tof weekend achter de rug met de wonderlijke avonturen van ons Simone en de Strootjes in het Japanse Teppanyaki-restaurant TENGOKU in Opwijk. Ons Moe heeft op haar 80ste het Land van de Rijzende Zon ontdekt en het was goed. Ze was in de wolken toen ze de Chef-kok zijn gejongleer kon aanschouwen en was nog meer enthousiast over het eten zelf. Zozeer dat ze de Japanner, een dertiger, mee naar huis wilde nemen. We hebben haar dus moeten tegengehouden om op haar leeftijd nog zulke wilde en exotische escapades aan te gaan.
Dat is dus voor herhaling vatbaar. Nu nog Magda en Denis meetronen want die zullen deze kookkunst ook kunnen apprecieren.

BIJNA WEEKEND!

Humeur : gelukkig
Wow, ik heb ergens deze geweldige foto van #6 uit Battlestar Galactica gevonden op de een of andere scifi website. Alleen nog de allerlaatste aflevering van seizoen 2 te bekijken en dan is het waarschijnlijk nog meer dan een jaar wachten vooraleer seizoen 3 op DVD in de UK verschijnt. Ondertussen nog geen enkel TV net gevonden in de omringende landen van Belgie die deze reeks uitzendt. Oenen!

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA

C. gave me the DVD's from season 1 and 2 of the remade series BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. So I am spending much of my free time in watching one episode after the other..and I must admit it's fantastic. I did not like the old Seventies-series very much because the Cylons were so obviously humans dressed in plastic and metal. The special effects in this series however are up to date and that makes a lot of difference. The actors are all great and the scripts are very good so far. It's not and will never be the polished Star Trek but the reality of life is huge in this SCI-FI series. Yes, there's lots of sex and violence in here, but it is never over the top. So I am looking forward to season 3. I love the fact that Richard Hatch who played Apollo in the old series plays now a anti-hero in the new series. I love Number Six who is a superb human-Cylon the way Seven Of Nine in Star Trek Voyager was a superb human-Borg. The female president is great, Gaius Baltar is handsome and great in his disturbing love for Number Six. The female Kara "Starbuck" is great. But my favourite is Olmos who plays a huge Commander Adama. Applause for this series...

Captain Kirk!

Mood : al most weekend, youpie...
Reading: Star Trek "Captain's Glory" written by William Shatner. A fine continuation of the ongoing Captain Kirk stories, written by the man himself!
This second part in the Star Trek "Totality" series is very good as almost all the main players of the ST universe play their role in this books. Admiral Kathryn Janeway, the Holographic Doctor, Picard on the Enterprise, Riker and Troy on the Titan and of course Kirk and Spock. Who else knows Kirk so well as Shatner himself.

Just to say this:

Tof weekend

Oef, terug aan het werk na een extra lang weekend. Het weekend was meer dan geslaagd met de grote familie samen. Ons Simone heeft alvast een ongelooflijke dag meegemaakt, en de rest van de bende was ook in form. Een familie uit de duizend! Dat is dus voor herhaling vatbaar.
Heerlijk gedineerd in de Ensor Inn in Wenduine, met dank aan de Strootjes en natuurlijk de goede/lekkere zorgen van Fernand en Kaatje.


De Strootjes hadden alvast een vroeg verjaardagscadeau voor mij in petto, dat is altijd leuk.
Brugge, die schone is nog altijd schoon en de paarden waren in form. Gelukkig had ik gisteren een snipperdag genomen om lekker languit in de zetel bij te komen van de trip.

Vanmorgen kriekedejour al een telefoontje van ons Magda gekregen voor de verjaardag en op het werk net een Thais diner achter de rug met een al even fantastische cadeau
Ze mogen er zijn, die collega's van mij. Hopelijk kunnen we nog lang samenwerken.

Feeling like a geisha

Gisterenavond eindelijk naar "Memoirs of a Geisha" gekeken en daarom voel ik me vandaag nogal Japans, zelfs in die mate dat ik de Arthur, de kat die ik dagelijks een knuffel geef tijdens mijn ochtendwandeling naar het station begroette met een "Ohayo-Gozaimasu, Arthur-San". De film is beter dan ik verwacht had en heeft zijn 3 Oscars dus verdiend. Prachtige kleuren en goede vertolking. Ik was vooral in de wolken met Ken Watanabe die al groots was in "The Last Samurai" als stoere krijger maar die in deze film een zachte gentleman speelt. Heel knap en overtuigend.
Ik ga dus het boek nog eens herlezen.
De zon zit er hier in Brussel door te komen en dat streepje blauwe lucht doet dus goed aan het hart. Hopelijk wordt het even mooi dit weekend voor de dag-uitstap met de familie...

Back to work!

Humeur: Heel erg ambetant want het verlof is voorbij en ik zit weer op kantoor.

Hallo de realiteit. Terug uit het zonnige Venezia en dus onmiddellijk in de Belgische koude en nattigheid. Leuk is anders. Bovendien kan ik niet over de stapels werk heen kijken die mijn lieve collega's op het werk voor mij klaar hebben gelegd. Letterlijk stapels, hopen om niet overheen te kijken. Verschrikkelijk na die heerlijke "Festina Lente" van Italie dus. Enfin, het is dus weer voorbij en het is goed geweest. Vino, Pasta e Amore...
Aan de Strootjes: die Limo is een fantastisch idee. Wie is daar op gekomen?
Nu moet ik verder werken... sneu

Last Working Day

Last night my friend called me to say that he had packed and was ready to leave for Europe. And that he has packed enough books to read for both of us.
I was just thinking, what are we going to do on leave: read books??? And I who was hoping for lots of exploring and vino and amore... So I decided to take only the Halfblood Prince and a lot of plans to keep my friend's books in his luggage.
Anyway, I am clearing my desk and most of my projects are rounded so I can leave my office without remorse. Anyway, there will be piles of work waiting for me when I come back. Better not think of that now...

Books??

I have been packing for my trip to Paris and Venice last night and by the time I came to choosing some books for the train-ride I faced a major problem.
Ok, I can only take pockets because they are small and light and cheap so it is not a disaster when they are lost during the voyage. But which ones to take? I have a huge pile in my library with books that I haven't read yet, and then there are the ones I love so much I can just read them over and over again. For the moment the only one who is definitely going to make it is Rowling's HP Half-Blood Prince.
Good thing the pocket came out just in time for the Holidays, I really need to re-read this one ASAP for the ...th time. But what else should I take??

Niet veel uitgespookt dit weekend, zaterdagmorgen boodschappen gedaan, in de namiddag gekuist (bleh!)
Zondag morgen een breiwerk opgezet voor een zomers topje dat dus waarschijnlijk hartje winter zal af zijn..voor de rest naar een hoop afleveringen van Star Trek TNG gekeken, die zijn nu in promo-prijs wegens de verjaardag. Out-dated maar nog altijd fun om Picard bezig te zien en te horen. Voor de rest mij mentaal bezinnen op het komend verlof (zoals kitty hierboven)...

Lots of Work

Mood : in need of a good Tango-dance

I'm working like hell at the office as only one week to go before a very long leave.
Finally the climate has changed, it's raining cats and dogs in Brussels and the temperature dropped about 15 degrees. The trees in my garden are drinking, drinking..
I put some young shubunkin in my fish tank saturday and they are still doing fine, so I think this time they will survive.
With the nice drop in the temperature it would be good to go dancing tonight at the local Tango Bar but I'm tired... What shall I do...just go home and be a couch patato or dance...dance!

Johnny Depp, my favourite Pirate

I went to see Dead Man's Chest yesterday and Oh boy, Johnny rocks.
The last movie I saw with Johnny was 'The Libertine' and he really shows in that movie what a great stage-actor he is. So different compared with what he's doing in this Pirate series. Well done Johnny.

Heatwave

Last night I opened my last bottle of Italian La Masseria Rose in order to drink the heatwave away. Drank half a bottle but the heat continued to pound on me. Last month has been one huge heatwave, quite exceptional in the otherwise moderate climate of Belgium. Yes, I know, it's Midsummer but a whole month of 35 degrees Celsius is not typical Belgian weather. The newspaper mentionned today that humpbackwhales and dolphins have been spotted on the northern coasts of Scotland. Very rare and a sure sign that something is going very wrong with the climate on our dear blue marble. When are the politicians and the citizens of the world going to take action?
I water my garden 2 times daily and even feed drops of water to the spiders hanging around in my Bonsai trees. The good news is that 4 white Bengal tigers were born in a local Zoo. Only 300 of them left on the planet. May the Goddess bless them with a long and happy tiger-life.
By the way, on my stroll today in the neighbourhood of my workingarea, I discovered a square with a huge and magnificent bronze statue of a nude woman. Very much hidden, but a sure sign that the goddess is popping up everywhere these last years... and while I am typing this, they are playing the Harry Potter-theme of the first movie on the Tele.
Yes, there is a lot of magic in the air lately...

The leaky Cauldron

Mood: Great after a fantastic long, long weekend.

So, Thursday I went shopping for a plasma TV and a new DVD-player and I found some great stuff in the Summer-sales. Both work fine (as for now)

I did not do a lot for the rest, just hang out, bought some new clothes, did some reading and watched some scary movies on my brandnew Tele.

Listening: to Podcast Nr 49 of the Leaky Cauldron: the best Harry Potter website ever!!! (They are discussing Lucius versus Arthur Weasley.... of course the most handsome guy is winning...

Long weekend in view

Yes, very happy as tomorrow I am on long weekend for 4 days. Going to shop for a new DVD-player and a new LCD-TV.
This week I dropped almost everything to read Laurell K. Hamiltons 13th book in the Anita Blake series: Danse Macabre. Not as good as the first book in the series but still hot and sexy vampires.
I am now reading Kim Harrison's "A Fistful of Charms" and heck this one is very good. Kim is getting better and better. In between I read the 13th chapter of What happens in Paris which was quite hot stuff as well (good job Ariesemir!)
The job is still going strong despite the difficulties in the Airline-business and we managed to get a new contract with a TV-chain. Yippie!

Simone 80 jaar !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gisteravond is mijn schoonmoeder 80 geworden en dat is gevierd met een super-gezellig samenzijn van de hele familie. Plezant, leuk, hartverwarmend.
Toffe avond dus na een hectische ambetante dag op het werk.
Vandaag hopelijk minder problemen en meer constructief werk ....
Ik heb alvast Mozart op de CD liggen om de gemoederen vandaag wat koeler te houden dan gisteren.

Life is good for the moment, with a new and fantastic chapter in "What happens in Paris" by ArieSemir on Fanfiction.net. Oh sweet goddess, I loved the way Lucius kissed Hermione and how brave she is to join him in bed afterwards. No lemons yet, but I'm sure that will come...
Life is also very busy as in between work I am shopping for presents for my Mother in law who will be 80 on the 13th July, so no time to write much.

Martha and the Doctor

It seems that the BBC has followed my blog of yesterday. Late in the evening, they put an article about the new companion of the Doctor. It's the very very beautiful lady who had a role in episode 12 of this season: Freema Agyeman. Her character will be called Martha... They look great together. That means at least another year of Dr Who magnificent episodes, although Rose will be missed...
I went shopping today and purchased a nice black top and a brown dress at Autre Chose (the girls had David playing as well on their installation) so I am happy as can be...
Still trying to decide if I will take some new young cats in the house. I am in desperate need of a good familiar... I really need at least one cat in my life, or more, or plenty of more... or mayby a ferret again...

No more Rose in Dr. Who

Ik realiseerde me zonet dat het zaterdag avond de allerlaatste aflevering is van de nieuwe Dr. Who reeks op de BBC met de geliefde Billie Piper. Geen blonde, lieftallige Rose meer aan de zijde van de Doc. Door wie gaat ze vervangen worden? Of helemaal geen vrouwelijke partner meer voor de knappe/leuke David Tennant? Kan toch niet.... De website van de BBC laat nog altijd niets los... Het succes van de laatste 2 jaar DR WHO is volgens mij voor een groot deel te danken aan haar verschijning. Versta me niet verkeerd. Zowel Eccleston als Tennant was/is grandioos als de Doc, maar Rose gaf een lekkere stoot aan de reeks... Ik zal haar dus missen, maar je weet maar nooit, in deze reeks is natuurlijk alles mogelijk.
Lekker koel hier op kantoor voor het moment, wat nuttig is want mijn bureel puilt uit van het werk. Tussendoor zap ik naar Fanfiction.Net om hopeloos op het volgende hoofdstuk van ArieSemir's verhaal "What happens in Paris" te zoeken.... Come on, write my dear girl....
Dat doet mij eraan denken dat ik shampoo en Hair Conditioner moet meenemen bij mijn volgende bezoek aan Lucius. Daar hebben ze in Azkaban blijkbaar gebrek aan. Toch aan de goede Franse merken die mijn loverboy prefereert.

GREENMANTLE by Charles de Lint

The weekend was nice and hot. Too hot to do anything else but relax in the garden and read in the shadows of the enormous trees of my home-town park.

Finished reading "Greenmantle" by Charles de Lint. This is a novel that Charles wrote a long time ago but I hadn't managed to read yet. It's a wonderful story with the usual mix of brutal realism and ancient forest magic. A very sweet love story as well. A book to treaure for ever.
I started reading his other work "Someplace to be Flying" now. Again a tale from that magickal
city where magic flows into the lives of ordinary people.

Anyway, I'm back in the office where the work is piled high and the Airco is on the highest setting. So, work now...

Listening to Juanes to go with the tropical weather that hits Brussels. My new Iaito has arrived from Great-Brittain and it looks and feels wonderful. This should motivate me to do some more training.

Harry Potter - Inferno door Ociwen

Oef, eindelijk weer wat zon en het vooruitzicht naar een warm weekend.
Ik heb gisteravond doorgebracht met het herlezen van een van de beste Harry Potter fanfiction stories van de laatste 10 jaar: Inferno, geschreven in het Engels door OCIWEN is een Hermione/Lucius verhaal die zich afspeelt net na de grote slag die zich ongetwijfeld zal afspelen. Ver weggeslingerd door een spreuk zijn Lucius en Hermione terechtgekomen in de cottage van een bejaarde vrouw. Lucius heeft geen tovermacht meer door een spreuk van Hermione en Hermione is zwaar gekwetst. Het gevolg is dat beiden op elkaar zijn aangewezen en wat volgt is een soort Stockholm-syndroom verhaal. Heel erotisch maar heel erg realistisch.

Dit verhaal heeft een fameuze indruk op mij achtergelaten en bewijst nog maar eens hoeveel schrijftalent er vaak aanwezig is.

Ok, for all people who will visit my blog, most entries will be done in English but I will add a Dutch version most of the times as not everyone of my friends/relatives are fluent in this language. Today is my ever first diary-entry so please be lenient with me.
I found out today that Rowling is going "to kill" two more characters in her last Harry Potter book than she had planned. I hope it's not my hubby as he's far too beautiful to kill...
Ok, serious now, I am in my office in Brussels, working hard (hmm) and meanwhile listening to Gotan Project, their last CD named Lunatico. A must for Tango-lovers.
